  • 1503 – Devi’s battle between the Portuguese and Osmanans (Osmani kingdom (1299 – 1923) (or the Ottoman Empire or the Ottoman Empire) was fought in India’s Diu (now a Union Territory).
  • 1760 – Under the leadership of Sadashiva Rao brothers, the Maratha army defeated the Nizam in a battle of Udgir.
  • 1815 – World’s first factory of paneer production was opened in Switzerland.
  • 1916 – Beginning of the Banaras Hindu University.
  • 1925 – India’s first electric powered train service starts between Mumbai and Kurla.
